Mike's brother and his girlfriend Heidi had a little boy early this summer. After a busy summer Mary Elizabeth and I finally got to meet her new cousin, Blaise, this past Sunday. M.E. took awhile to warm up to the baby in the room, but once she was comfortable she wanted to hug and hold the baby! We had a nice visit with Poppy, B, Uncle David, Aunt Martha, Chris, Heidi and Blaise.

Fire Prevention Parade
We went to the Fire Prevention Parade downtown this morning and had a great time. It was really loud, but M.E. enjoyed seeing the fire trucks and collecting candy. She hasn't had any candy yet, but she liked collecting it and holding it. I wonder how long I can keep her from realizing what candy really is!

New phrases
Mary Elizabeth is starting to say little phrases that she hears us say. My favorites are "I see you" and "I got it." She is also saying "I love you," which is wonderful to hear! She is trying really hard to say her name, but it is a mouthful! Mainly she just says Mary House. This afternoon, she really tried for Elizabeth, but it didn't work very well and made her laugh. Using the potty continues to go well. I am really not trying, but between home and school she is using a potty 4-5 times a day. I didn't really intend to do the potty training thing yet, but she is fascinated by it!

My Potty!
Mary Elizabeth has been showing interest in the whole "bathroom experience" lately, so we made a trip to Walmart today and bought her a potty. The majority of the day was spent sitting on the potty and repeating "my potty, my potty." Tonight before bathtime we sat her on the potty and she "christened" the potty! She was so surprised that she stopped pretty quickly, but she could tell we were proud and we made a huge fuss over her! I'm not really going to make an effort until Christmas when I have several days that we can spend at home, but it is so cute to see how excited she is. She is growing up so fast!
