Last day of summer

We had a great summer, but all good things do come to an end. On the last day of summer vacation we went swimming at LuLu and Joe's then had dinner with them.

Sprinker fun, FINALLY!

Mary Elizabeth has not wanted to play in the sprinkler this summer, until now! Last weekend we got the sprinkler out again and she finally decided that it looked like fun. Before it was over she was carrying the sprinkler and chasing her daddy!

First movie at the theatre

It seems like it has been a summer of firsts! ME has been a devoted fan of the Toy Story movies, so I thought with the weather being so miserable that we would go see Toy Story 3. We stopped and got some lunch at Chick-fil-a then went to the theatre in Alabaster at 11:40. She was such a big girl. She made a stop at the potty (just to check!) then off we went to find our seats. She wasn't heavy enough to hold down the seats, so she sat in my lap the entire time! She seemed to really enjoy the movie and the entire experience. Luckily she ate her nuggets and sipped her milk very quietly and did not ask for more when they were gone! I know I am leading my child into a life of crime with contraband food at the movies, but have you seen the food prices at the theatre lately! 2 drinks and a popcorn was $15! I will say that Toy Story 3 was a little more intense than the first 2 installments, but it didn't seem to bother ME as much as me! I am ready for another kiddo movie so we can go back to the theatre again.

First baseball game

We were invited by some friends to a Baron's baseball game last Friday. Mike and are are not baseball fans, but thought it sounded like fun so off we went. It was a Lutheran event so we saw Annie, Jim, Holder, Kendra and Harper. We ended up eating dinner with them and never found the friends that invited us! After hotdogs and chips we sat in the grass off 3rd base (never made it to our seats) and ME danced and played and watched a bit of the game. We packed up to head home at 9pm with and overtired, sweaty, dirty little girl! She had fun, but I think we would prefer afternoon games!

Trip to Huntsville

Mary Elizabeth and I went to visit my sister and her husband in Huntsville last week. It is so nice to have a big girl to travel with! We took so much stuff for our 1 night trip last year and now it feels like grab and go! We drove straight to Scottie's store and hung out there for about an hour. When we left we took Sam home then dropped Scottie's car at the Toyota dealership to get some work done. ME promptly fell asleep on the way to the grocery store, but woke up and was a good shopping buddy. At home ME enjoyed playing outside, watching TV and coloring while the grownups visited and cooked dinner. At bedtime Scottie helped me give ME a bath, then I tucked her in her tent. The next morning we went to the Huntsvile Botanical gardens. The display this year is a collection of treehouses/playhouses. It is an interactive exhibit and geared towards kids. ME had a great time. We wen to a Mexican restaurant for lunch then went to pack up at Scottie's. ME slept for awhile on the way home, but mainly visited with me and watched movies. It was a fun trip!

First ride!

We have been lucky to have a friend loan us a sweet pony for ME. Tattoo was a lesson pony and now belongs to some friends in Montevallo. ME went for her first ride today and totally loved it! It was such a relief for me. I hope this continues because I would love to be able to ride with my little girl one day!

First helmet!

After our trip to the dentist we went by Alabama Blue Ribbon Tack to try and get ME her first riding helmet. It took some convincing, but once she had it on she really like it. She took a ride on the rocking horse and wore the hat to the car!
